Eligibility Criteria for Diversity in Tech Scholarships - August 2024
Identity and Background
The applicant must identify as one or more of the following:
● Māori
● Pasifika
● Neurodivergent (including but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other
neurological conditions)
● Woman
● Gender-diverse (including but not limited to non-binary, genderqueer, and transgender
individuals)
Or the applicant must have a disability, defined as
● A physical, sensory, learning, psychological, neurological, or other impairment that
either:
○ Is long-term (lasting six months or more), and/or
○ Requires ongoing support or specialised services to help the person participate in and succeed in tertiary education.
Educational Enrolment
The applicant must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrolment in the Dev Academy software development Bootcamp course starting on 26 August 2024.
Completion of Scholarship Application Form
The applicant must submit responses to the Application form questions, detailing how receiving the scholarship could address any challenges they have faced and how it will assist them in achieving their objectives. Their responses should respond to all questions and include their email address for contact.

Scholarship Award
The scholarship award is granted at the discretion of the selection committee. All decisions regarding the selection of scholarship recipients are final and not subject to appeal.
Application of Scholarships
The scholarship funds are to be applied exclusively towards course fees at Dev Academy Aotearoa. The scholarship amount will be directly deducted from the total course fees.
Balance of Fees
Recipients are responsible for paying any remaining balance of their course fees that exceeds the scholarship amount. The balance must be paid in full by the due date specified by the educational institution.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet all the eligibility criteria set forth in the scholarship application guidelines. Additionally they must submit an application form for the August 2024 intake.
Use of Scholarship Funds
Scholarship funds are non-transferable and will be used solely for the purpose of paying course fees. Course fees payable by the student (whether via Studylink, Fees Free, bank transfer or credit card payment) will be reduced, by the value of the scholarship awarded, to the remaining balance due. Any misuse of funds will result in the revocation of the scholarship and may require repayment of the awarded amount.
Academic Performance
Recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory academic performance including meeting the requirement to enter Bootcamp. Failure to do so may result in the suspension or termination of the scholarship.
Transfer of Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded for a specific term and may not be automatically transferred for subsequent intakes.
Changes to Terms and Conditions
The selection committee reserves the right to modify the terms and conditions of the scholarship at any time. Any changes will be communicated to the recipients in a timely manner.
Termination of Scholarship
Dev Academy reserves the right to terminate the student’s scholarship at any time, in accordance with cancelling the student’s study, in accordance with Dev Academy’s student conduct policies and procedures which are supplied in the student’s Offer of Place.
Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand courts.
Participation in Marketing
Recipients of the scholarship may be required to participate in marketing activities like blogs, video content or photography.
